Wonderwhy and Knowall--Light Lamps and Insects

“Today is the nice weather, let’s go to park for cycling Wonderwhy” her Daddy said.
The weather was really good and also following day Wonderwhy and her family had a very heavy dinner full butter and so much of calories. So it was a good idea to go to park and have some walk and burn some calories.

Wonderwhy was too happy going to park and playing on swing doing cycling and giving push in swing to her little sister Cutiecurious.At one point of time Wonderwhy wanted to have Ice-Cream and her mother said it’s a dinner time so she can have Ice-Cream later and Wonderwhy agreed very nicely.
Full family was happy that they came to park and had a nice time.
While coming back Wonderwhy was staring at roadside light lamps and a question pops in her mind.

We all know that whenever any question comes to her mind fairy Knowall appears and only Wonderwhy can see her.

“Hi Wonderwhy it’s after a long time we are seeing each other, I hope you are having a very nice summer” fairy Knowall said.
“I am having a wonderful summer fairy Knowall and I am hoping same for you. I have a question, do you have some time to reply?” Wonderwhy asked.
“Sure you are most welcome, I came here because my equipments in my lab can read kids mind and when there is some question pops up in somebody’s mind my siren starts and kids name who has the question so that I will come to know where I have to go. This time my siren was saying Wonderwhy…Wonderwhy….Wonderwhy……so I came to you to answer your question, so tell me what is your question?” Fairy Knowall said.
“I am wondering while looking at the light lamps why these flies and insects are hovering around light?” Wonderwhy asked.

“This is a very good question I will tell you in detail Listen. In very old days when there was no artificial light no light lamps no light bulbs then night flying insects were using moon light for navigation. As we all know that light travels in a straight line and if it is reflected it will make a certain angle. By keeping the moon's reflected light at a constant angle, the insects can maintain a steady flight path and a straight course.

When people started using artificial lights these insects started getting confused with these artificial light as moon. Since these artificial light appears more bright these insects started to get attracted towards it more thinking that they can go to their destination following the light rays.

Fairy was in hurry as her siren was blinking with some other kids name. When fairy heard name of the kid in siren it was Cutiecurious. And Cutiecurious was having a question “Why I should be tied up in my car seat and cannot go in front or play with steering as my father is rotating the steering wheel?”
Fairy made Cutiecurious understand about safety and left for the day waving goodbye to both wonderwhy and Cutiecurious.
