Wonderwhy And Knowall--About Rainbow

Wonderwhy is a 6 years old girl. She has a invisible friend fairy her name is Knowall. Whenever Wonderwhy thinks why about any thing.Her friend Knowall appears and solve all wonderwhy’s questions.

Lets start with the first thing that Wonderwhy is wondering about?

It was a very hot summer morning. Wonderwhy was having her summer vacations. Her grandmother has visited her from France. Wonderwhy was planning to take her grandmother at different places in USA.

It was summer Wonderwhy thought lets take granma to Niagra falls. It will be fun to go into ‘Maid of Mist’ and ‘Cave of the winds’. Getting wet there will be fun and she was so excited about going to ‘Maid of the Mist’.

First she went to ‘Maid of the Mist’ with her family. Initially she was little scared because of large waves that were hitting the ship. She thought her ship will sink. When her invisible fairy friend knew about Wonderwhy’s problem fairy friend assured her nothing will happen just enjoy. After that Wonderwhy was so happy she was wearing blue raincoat to protect her from getting wet. Wonderwhy’s granma liked it a lot.

When ‘Maid of the mist’ finished they came back to the garden and got ready for ‘Cave of the winds’ their next adventure.
In 'Cave of the Winds' she got yellow raincoat and sandles to protect her from water and getting slip on rocky path. Woderwhy enjoyed there a lot she was so wet almost took bath under the fall.

Suddenly she saw a rainbow in the fall. It was looking amazing , unforgetable scene. But a question popped into her mind. ‘Rainbow in fall? I have seen rainbow only in sky. I need to find out how these rainbows are formed? There should be some techniques that forms rainbow?’. As we all know that whenever some question comes to her mind her fairy friend knowall appears right? This time also she appeared and asked Wonderwhy.

‘Wonderwhy what are you wondering about today?’

Wonderwhy said.
‘fairy friend how are these rainbow forms I have seen it in the sky but today I am seeing it in the fall. Can you tell be what is the reason behind rainbow?’

Fairy knowall said “yes wonderwhy I will tell you lets sit in the garden and talk about this.”
‘long long ago people use to think these rainbows are some magic. They are some sort of bridge that connects sky from earth. Some people also thought that if you go to the end of rainbow you will get a big pot of gold.
But you know wonderwhy all these stories were not true. Scientist worked on to find out how these rainbows are formed and they told everybody what these rainbows are. And how these are formed.’

Fairy asked. ‘Wonderwhy do you know something about sunlight?’

Wonderwhy said ‘fairy friend I am asking you about rainbow and you are asking me about sunlight, you forgot what I asked?’

Fairy friend said:
‘Wonderwhy to know how these rainbow are formed you have to know about sunlight, because if there is no sunlight there will be no rainbow’

‘oooo now I understood why you were asking about sunlight. Well fairy friend as far as I know sunlight is a light that comes from sun and its white in color’ Wonderwhy replied.


‘hmmmm Wonderwhy when I was a kid I also thinks the same but one day my father told me about the sunlight that I will tell you what it is. Sunlight looks like white light but it is really made up of all the colors of the rainbow. Remember if you cannot recall the colors of the rainbow, just think of ROY G. BIV, the rainbow man. Hahahahaha..’ fairy friend replied.

Fairy friend continued,
‘When a raindrop falls from the sky, the sunlight passes through it and divides it into various color spectrums. That means it bends different colors in different angels.
The rainbow reflects these colors, just like a mirror. Many rays of sunlight passes through the rain falling down, breaking them up into the colors of the spectrum to create a beautiful, curved, colorful rainbow.
The rainbow we see is thus a result of many, many raindrops bending the sun's rays.
Now these rain drops are nothing but water drops so these water drops can be there any where either in the form of raindrop or its from fall as you have seen in Niagra falls.’

‘So what do you think you understood how these rainbows are forms?’ fairy friend asked.

‘yes my dear fairy friend knowall, I understood. You are great ‘ Wonderwhy replied.

Then....
A tiny little voice came from behind.

‘Dear big sister look at the beautiful rainbow its like magic can you tell me how its formed?’ this voice was from Wonderwhy’s little sister Cutiecurious who also went with her for Niagra trip.
Wonderwhy said ‘yes little sister I understood all now I will tell you.’
Wonderwhy told her little sister all about rainbow formation and both of them were so happy as they learned one more wonders of science.
